About the Course

The course is presented in a one-week class with two parts. Locksmithing 101- Commercial, which mostly consists of commercial grade locks and Locksmithing 102 - Detention, focuses primarily on detention locks. Both classes are required to complete the certification requirement hours.

This class is a one-week 5 day format, beginning at 9:00 on Monday, and ending at 5:30 PM on Friday for a total of 50 credit hours. The rate for the class is $2,500.00 per student.

Locksmithing 102 - Detention 

  • Electro-Mechanical lock terminology

  • Advanced Master keying systems

  • Identifying detention keys

  • Re-Keying Mogul pin tumbler cylinders

  • Re-Keying Lever tumbler locks

  • Servicing and maintenance of electro-mechanical detention locks

  • Servicing and maintenance of electro-mechanical sliders

  • Key control and locking systems


Additional Information

Due to credit hour requirements it is necessary to attend the both class 101 - Commercial and 102- Detention to complete the certification regardless of past experience.

Lodging and Transportation

The student is responsible for their lodging and transportation.
